Walls

EXTERIOR WALLS (FF-PIR)

FF-PIR thermal insulation products are suitable for thermally insulating both timber and concrete-framed wall structures, and they also function as a vapor barrier within the structure. The effective FF-PIR thermal insulation can be used to improve the U value of walls without increasing the thickness of the structure noticeably. For example, by increasing a 140-mm layer of FF-PIR FR insulation in a P1 fire class ventilated facade (U value 0.17) to 170 mm thick, the U value can be lowered significantly to 0.14. The FF-PIR insulation solutions are also the easiest and safest option for zero-energy houses with genuinely energy efficient structures.

EXTERIOR WALLS (FF-EPS)

FF-EPS insulation products are most commonly used in concrete-framed buildings, including in concrete sandwich elements and as a sturdy base for thin-coat render placed outside of the bearing framework offering safe moisture performance.

EXTERIOR WALLS (FINNFOAM)

FINNFOAM insulation products are most commonly used in wall structures in detached houses and holiday homes subject to demanding conditions. For wall structures with an on-center stud spacing of 600 mm (K600), Finnfoam offers a solution that is similar to the one used in ventilated base floors for faster and easier installation.

SUPPLEMENTARY INSULATION AND VAPOR BARRIERS

FINNFOAM and FF-PIR insulation materials always function as a vapor barrier within the structure as well. This is why they are often used today with porous wool insulation as an interior vapor barrier solution for wall and roof structures. The hard insulation also provides a sturdy base for mineral wool in roofs. This solution also improves the insulation capacity of porous insulation materials, as the temperature difference within the material is reduced, thus mitigating the detrimental impact of convection. This type of solution is also commonly used for internal supplementary thermal insulation.
