Vapour barrier board
Finnfoam's range of products also includes a new full-profile interfitting vapour barrier board. The board is intended especially for use as vapour barrier board in walls and ceilings. Other Finnfoam boards, such as the flat edge profile and the half-interfitting edge profile board, also function as vapour barriers.
The full-profile interfitting board (FK-300) is available in two thicknesses: 30 mm and 50 mm. The lambda value of the 30 mm board is 0.032, while the lambda of the 50 mm board is 0.035. The full-profile interfitting board is specifically designed for use as a vapour barrier in walls, roofs and other areas where leakproof structures are required. The half-interfitting Finnfoam board is often used as a combined blowing mould and vapour barrier for mineral wool. The joints are usually sealed using polyurethane foam and taped in at the bottom, but now the full-profile interfitting edge also allows the use of butyl putty as a sealant, resulting in leakproof, flexible joints. The solution is highly cost-efficient as the structure also results in a leakproof air and vapour barrier, improving the structure's insulation properties.
As Finnfoam insulation boards do not crumble and can be worked using ordinary woodworking tools, they are very easy to use. Through holes can easily be sealed using polyurethane foam, leaving no holes in the structures. Finnfoam also functions as reinforcement in wooden structures when it is glued between the frame and the wooden strips using polyurethane foam. The wooden strip, attached to the inside surface of Finnfoam, is then secured to the frame using screws.
